Northwestern Polytechnical University Achieves Outstanding Results in the 2024 National English Competition for College Students Finals
Tue, Oct 15 2024 16:08From August 2nd to August 7th, 2024, the National English Competition for College Students Finals (NECCSF) were held in Guilin, Guangxi Province. More than 500 competitors who were selected by the competition organizing committees from various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government participated in the finals. The finals included three competition events: English speech contest, debate competition, and style competition. Our university’s seven contestants performed excellently in all events, winning a total of one special prize, five first prizes, six second prizes, two third prizes, one excellence award, two Best Debater awards, and one Individual Performance award.

From April to May this year, the 2024 NECCS held preliminary and provincial finals. The campus competition was organized and hosted by our university’s Academic Affairs Department and the College English Practice and Innovation Base, with more than 3,500 students from four categories registering for the competition. After a series of written tests, oral tests, and selections by the provincial competition organizing committee, seven students from the School of Physical Science and Technology (Xu Weizhou), School of Electronic Information (Liu Jiale), School of Materials (Zhang Jizhi), Civil Aviation School (Ding Ziyi), School of Computer Science (Niu Ziming), School of Mechanics and Civil Engineering (Nan Han), and School of Navigation (Song Tianmu) stood out and advanced to the national finals. The national finals are an important follow-up activity of the 2024 NECCS, aiming to further encourage college students who have achieved excellent results in the preliminary and final rounds, improve their English listening and speaking skills, and cultivate their independence, innovation ability, and team spirit.
